Ghostlight + The Huxleys + The Obscuritones + The Roads
To help celebrate The London Sixties Week we have chosen bands and acts that have taken their inspiration from the Sixties:
Ghostlight
Very Snow Patrol but in a good way, they don't sound like they're copying them only emulating parts of their music and doing a very good job of it. This band could go very far.
www.myspace.com/ghostlighttheband
The Huxleys
The Huxleys are a female fronted, three piece rock band. Their influences stem from the surfy sound of the sixties and guitar rock of the seventies.
http://www.myspace.com/thehuxleysband
The Obscuritones
London Greaserbilly for Rock-a-Hulagans. Playing the best rockabilly rarities from the fifties . . surfin, spy and garage rock from the sixties . . . and wild originals from the hereafter.

Wednesday 21 July
The Screenbeats + 10p Short + Paul Diello
+ Timandmo
To help celebrate The London Sixties Week we have chosen bands and acts that have taken their inspiration from the Sixties:
The Screenbeats
The Screenbeats are a longstanding and strangely beguiling four-piece hailing from the Home Counties. Taking inspiration in equal measure from Motown & Northern Soul, The Clash and the Smiths, the result is a sophisticated and unusual slant on indie pop. Throw an infectious melody into the mix and you have the Screenbeat formula that has been winning the band acclaim all over the UK in recent years.www.myspace.com/thescreenbeats
10p Short
Four nice guys from four nice corners descended upon Guildford to take to the world – 10p Short, wear their influences on their sleeves, blending acoustic tales with anthemic rock to capture hearts and minds of all who listen.http://www.myspace.com/10pshortmusic
Paul Diello
Paul has been described as a combination of: Anthony and the Johnsons, George Michael and Patrick Wolf with a smattering of Eddie Izzard! ... But actually Paul Diello is entirely unique... He posses a stunning vocal and song writing talent that has brought him a whole raft of fans many of whom have fallen in love with him via his self released debut album “The Last Green Bottle". Sounds a bit like a one man boy band. http://www.myspace.com/pauldiellomusic
Timandmo
Timandmo are made up of Tim Dry and Mo Blackford. They came together to create a new synthesis of musical styles that reflect their experiences and beliefs and can be described as organic electronica.

Thursday 22 July
Ilia Darlin + The Cheek Of Her + Hayley Tucker + Izo FitzRoy & The Royal Bastards
To help celebrate The London Sixties Week we have chosen bands and acts that have taken their inspiration from the Sixties:
The Cheek of Her
A two piece who are happy but write dark and miserable lyrics. Their songs sounds catchy and uplifting with a hint of darkness.
They have hidden their musical lights under bushels for many years, but luckily found each other in 2009 and are starting to shine! Helen is a local, living in Earls court with an Irish background and Laszlo now living in North London is originally from Hungary. They describe their sound as lyrical-acoustic-rock: bouncing beats from guitar riffs combined with catchy lyrics and a strong female rock vocal punch!
www.myspace.com/thecheekofher
Hayley Tucker
She is a singer-songwriter based in North-West London. Her songs are punctuated with her personal experiences, embodying folk story-telling sensibilities and sung with a voice that can compel her audience, whilst her soulful, blusey power can really pack a punch!
www.myspace.com/hayleytuckersings
Ilia Darlin
Her strong live performances,as a front-woman of Stiletto Scag, gained her a loyal fan base.Ilia Darlin performed in the biggest festival of Greece,Synch festival, and drew the attention of people in the industry. She was featured in many top magazines and MadTV(the most popular music channel in Greece) made a documentary about her
life and talents. Electro Pop.
www.myspace.com/iliadarlin
Izo FitzRoy & The Royal Bastards
With influences ranging from Ben Folds to Ray Charles, and having played both classical and jazz piano since the age of seven, Izo combines highly technical piano melodies with fat funky bass riffs and occasional electric guitar, to produce a dirty blues sound that perfectly synthesises with her soulful voice. Her performances combine a feisty sense of humour along with a voice that is truly unique and captures the best of mo town. She'll make your feet dance like it's 1971.... http://www.myspace.com/izofitzroy

Friday 23 July
Woodburn + The Fleas + Jason Libs + Max Luck-Hille + Felix Fables
To help celebrate The London Sixties Week we have chosen bands and acts that have taken their inspiration from the Sixties:
Woodburn
One of a string of shows at the Troubadour this year from these sixties inspired rock stars.http://www.myspace.com/woodburnmusic
The Fleas
The Fleas make sunny music for anyone who’s ever been caught in the rain. Big, bad world, little fleas. It’s a traditional band line-up with a couple of elegant twists; glockenspiel, percussion, tight harmony and a Latin flourish, which colour the West London five-piece’s lovably home-grown folk-pop sound.
Compared favourably with ‘Magic Numbers’, an ‘Indie Abba (but with bigger cojones’) and ‘The Guillemots’, The Fleas sound at once both fresh and familiar. Catch them live and be forever bitten.
www.myspace.com/thefleasplease
Jason Libs
Singer/Songwriter from the United States of America, slightly country, generally another singer-songwriter. http://www.myspace.com/jasonlibs
Max Luck-Hille
Max is a singer, composer and writer who is a multi-instrumentalist and will be playing his blend of music at the Troubadour.
http://www.maxluckhille.com/
Felix Fables
Felix Fables: an iconographic, inspiringly euphoric band who constantly challenge themselves and those around them to have a far better time than anyone reckons possible. This band will whisk you away on a fairytale adventure with glorious girl/boy harmonies and then ease you back into reality with yarns of broken hearts and opportunities missed. Hand crafted songs with wistful optimism, Felix Fables will warm the cockles and delight the ears.
