The spirit of the 60s was one of freedom of expression through the limited channels that those creative young individuals had in those days before the internet, taking photos and Cine film was as much part of their culture as the digital camera today.
With music historian Bill Harry’s extensive Archives (just four examples here of previously unpublished images, part of 600 in a box he discovered of shots he took in 1963), London 60s Week is asking you, the peers of that iconic period, to dig out those old rolls of film stored in the attic or Garage and find that photo or that piece of film that is just a important to British social history.
Have you got that next iconic image or piece of footage that we need to complete in our task of passing on the real story of the 60’s to future generations? Arguably, a great deal of information about those times has been distorted over the years – something the team at London 60’s week intend to put right.
As technology has moved faster it can seem like an uphill struggle to turn your memories into a digital format. We are here to make it as easy as possible for you, all we ask is that you have a look through your boxes and see what you can find. Help us in our quest to find these lost social treasures.
