In the 60s, London’s young people unleashed their creativity on the world – in fashion, music, art, theatre, dance. Across all the arts, London reigned supreme.
Today young people in London are once again unlocking their creativity globally – but differently – in a digital age.
Through partnerships with schools, colleges, universities, community organisations, voluntary bodies and statutory authorities, London 60s Week aims to ensure that all generations share the flame of creativity. In our first year, 2010, we will lay the bedrock for initial skill-sharing projects and for building imaginative schemes in subsequent years.
The value of contributions from those who pioneered the 60s’ creative explosion in London will be immeasurable. Whether they were in business or fashion design, created the music of the 60s, whatever and where ever they were involved, they are in a position to pass on their history, their memories and, more importantly, their skills.
London 60s Week will provide a platform to showcase, innovate and pioneer the creativity of all Londoners, young and old.
